THERAPY

AMBIGUOUS LOSS THERAPY - INTERNATIONAL

Ambiguous loss can leave you feeling stuck, confused, and emotionally overwhelmed because the loss has no clear boundaries. Therapy offers a safe, confidential space to process these often unresolved feelings, build resilience, and learn coping strategies. Seeking support through therapy can help you regain a sense of control and meaning, even in the face of uncertainty, and learn to live well despite the ambiguous loss and grief.

ABOUT CHLOE SWINTON

I am the Founder of Ambiguous Loss UK and the only (?) Therapist in the UK specialising in ambiguous loss. I have over 25 years of extensive experience supporting people in the field, and my passion is also raising awareness of this type of living loss.

BACKGROUND
I am a fully qualified and trauma-informed MBACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor offering ambiguous loss and grief counselling in the UK and internationally. I'm also trained as an Advanced Practitioner (Level 3) in EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique); a cognitive somatic approach especially helpful for trauma and PTSD.  I have worked with people affected by issues such as missing, domestic abuse, dementia, brain injury, chronic mental health issues, suicide and an extensive range of other types of complicated and traumatic loss. I additionally work as a Sessional Counsellor with people with spinal cord injury, for the national Spinal Injuries Association charity. For over 10 years, I provided specialist telephone support at the national UK charity Missing People, previously worked as a Counsellor for Norfolk Family Carers, and was a Co-Founder of The Caring Space: Norfolk Carers Counselling. Previously worked for the NHS over five years.

Previous client testimonials

"Chloe was very professional but at the same time very supportive and approachable. She had a full understanding of the impact of ambiguous loss and this understanding helped me to learn to live with this type of open ended loss. It will always be difficult, but I feel I can now have a productive life along side it. I would wholeheartedly recommend Chloe."

"Chloe’s care, insight and calm presence made it possible for me to explore very complex and long-lasting emotions safely. Our work together has been a deeply healing and transformative experience. I’ve grown enormously and now feel more able to cope with ambiguity and difficult feelings in my day-to-day life."

"Chloe's knowledge and insight into ambiguous loss have taught me so much. I feel I’ve become a more compassionate and empathetic person as a result, with a greater ability to recognise different forms of ambiguous loss in my own life and in others. This has helped me make more sense of my experiences and feel more connected to the world around me."
