AMBIGUOUS LOSS THERAPY - INTERNATIONAL
Ambiguous loss can leave you feeling stuck, confused, and emotionally overwhelmed because the loss has no clear boundaries. Therapy offers a safe, confidential space to process these unresolved feelings, build resilience, and learn coping strategies. Seeking support through therapy can help someone regain a sense of control and meaning, even in the face of uncertainty.
ABOUT CHLOE SWINTON I am the Founder of Ambiguous Loss UK and the only (?) Therapist in the UK specialising in ambiguous loss. I have over 20 years of extensive experience supporting people in the field, and my passion is also raising awareness of this type of living loss. BACKGROUND I am a fully qualified and trauma-informed MBACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor offering ambiguous loss and grief counselling in the UK and internationally. I'm also trained as an Advanced Practitioner (Level 3) in EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique); a cognitive somatic approach especially helpful for trauma and PTSD. I have worked with people affected by missing, domestic abuse, dementia, brain injury, chronic mental health issues and an extensive range of other types of losses. For over 10 years, I provided specialist telephone support at the national UK charity Missing People, previously worked as a Counsellor for Norfolk Family Carers, and was a Co-Founder of The Caring Space: Norfolk Carers Counselling. HOW I WORK By nature, I'm described as warm, empathetic, caring and grounded. By practicing integratively, I blend elements from different approaches to suit your individual needs. Working holistically, I explore all parts of your being and am guided by my MARCH Model for Ambiguous Loss. I've undertaken in-depth training and previously experienced my own personal ambiguous losses which have deepened my understanding. PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by their Code of Ethics. I have a Certificate of Proficiency from the BACP and am listed on their Accredited Register which is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
